I find it interesting how each of our brains function differently.
I am someone who has to practice repetitively before absorbing a new skill. I need to take notes. I need to check those notes, follow those directions each and every time, until, hopefully, I can finally say that I ‘know’ how to do it.
This is not just an age thing. I have always been like this. There is no point in my watching a demonstration, especially once, and then have the expectation that it is successfully embedded in my tool box of a brain. I need to be hands on and do it over and over again.
And, the big kicker is: if I don’t use that body of knowledge on a regular basis, my brain erases it. There is only so much room available, apparently. Thus the re-learning. Back to the notes. (Don’t throw them out.) Back to the practice.
